About us:

Hi my name is Sandy Markus, my husband John and I are the proud owners of Bluegrass Samoyeds. We have been breeding quality dogs for over 13 years!

We moved to Kentucky from California over 14 years ago. John grew up on a small farm in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains near Yosemite where they raised many animals including dogs. After working and living in the city many years the desire to return to the farm life to raise our son was calling to him. We bought a small farm in Kentucky and never looked back

When we asked our son what kind of animal, he wanted to raise on our farm he immediately said dogs, Australian Shepherds to be exact and that’s where it all began for us. Our dogs are our family pets they are loved and spoiled. They have a large yard to run and play in moles to dig up and a baby pool to play in on warm summer days!

John and I fell in love with the Samoyed breed years ago and we just knew that one day we would have our cuddly Sammy! After many years of research and many hours of traveling we found our Mischa. She has brought so much joy and fun to our home, that big smiling ball of fluff melted our hearts and we were hooked. One year later we found our Angel and the two of them are now inseparable. Life with Samoyeds is never dull, fuzzy flashes of white running through the yard at what seems like 90 miles an hour! I believe all moles have changed residents!! They are determined, smart and yes sometimes stubborn we wouldn’t change a thing. To know a Sammy is to love a Sammy.
